In Awe of the King Born in a Manger

Quite a bit has happened in my life since my last post, and all of it has me more in awe of my Savior whose birth we celebrate at this time of year.

One of my best friends from Mines is getting married on January 1st, and he asked me to be his best man. While I’ve been to and videotaped several weddings recently, this will be the first one that I get to be more involved in. It’s been exciting to see how God has been working in the lives of this couple, especially through the pain and difficulty involved in this relationship. I’m rejoicing with them as they prepare to spend the rest of their lives together, and I’m thankful that God has given me opportunities to encourage and help them. I pray that God is glorified through the ceremony and, more importantly, through their life together.

I also completed my 7th semester at Mines, which I am glad to have behind me now. I was extremely challenged by my classes and busy schedule this past semester, and I’m looking forward to moving on to my final courses at Mines in the upcoming semester. I am also pursuing a job with the Bureau of Reclamation and hope to start there part-time within the spring semester. Please continue to pray for the Lord’s leading in finding a job and for His guidance along this road to become a career missionary. May His light always shine through me wherever I am serving!

After a difficult semester, I’m hungry for God’s Word and for more satisfaction in Him. I hope to consistently make time for more personal Scipture reading, prayer, and worship throughout the coming semester that will carry throughout the rest of my life. My challenge is that you would do the same. May God give us the ability to truly make Him our God every moment He so graciously gives us!

As this Christmas season passes, remember that the most precious gift we could ever receive is eternal life through our Immanuel, God with us. How incredible that the Father has sent His Son Jesus to save us from our sins and restore the relationship between Creator and mankind!

For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
whom He poured out upon us (W)richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

– Titus 3:3-7
