Change in Plans

I’ve never liked unexpected changes in plans. But God is slowly teaching me to even be thankful for them. I found out a couple weeks ago that the Cameroon mission trip was cancelled due to the leader not being able to lead the trip. John Dallmann, who was planning to take a team of six guys with him, is preparing to move his family to North Carolina so that he can begin work with Samaritan’s Purse in February. I am very excited for the opportunities and ministry that he will be involved in, but I am also disappointed that our January trip will not be happening.
As you could probably tell from my previous post, I was quite excited about returning to Cameroon, especially to be involved with ministry to refugees who have been forced out of their home country (Central African Republic). I still would like to plan or go on a trip to Cameroon sometime in 2008 for the purpose of assisting with the effort to find clean, sustainable drinking water for the refugees. In the meantime, please join me in praying for this group of people (Fulani from Central African Republic). Pray that God would open their eyes to their spiritual needs as they adjust to a new life of farming. May God be at work in them and through believers who are ministering to them so that they might find hope in life through Christ!
I am thankful that God does not need me in Cameroon to accomplish His purposes, and it amazes me that He desires to use me as an instrument in His work! While I do ponder the reasons for this trip not happening in January, I trust God and His timing. My hope is in Him, and I desire to tell the world about Him because there is no one else like Him. This is my prayer tonight as I rest in Him:

But I will hope continually
and will praise you yet more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous acts,
of your deeds of salvation all the day,
for their number is past my knowledge.
With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come;
I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.
O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to another generation,
your power to all those to come.
Your righteousness, O God,
reaches the high heavens.
You who have done great things,
O God, who is like you?
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities
will revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
you will bring me up again.
You will increase my greatness
and comfort me again.

-Psalm 71:14-21
