Nebraska Support Raising & Upcoming eMi Golf Marathon

Blogged under John's Journey by John on Sunday 1 August 2010 at 7:21 pm

Thank you for your prayers for this past weekend as I traveled to fellowship and speak at Stockham Community Church in Nebraska this morning. It was great to worship with them and to share more of my heart and involvement with Engineering Ministries International. And, it was a blessing to spend time with my grandparents on the drive and to visit extended family in Nebraska as a part of this trip.

As my grandparents prepare to drive back to Indiana and I prepare to fly back to Colorado, God blessed us with a beautiful sunset tonight in Kansas City, which I am sharing with you in the photo below. Praise the Lord that He created dawn and sunset to shout for joy (Psalm 65:8)!

Please pray with me for eMi’s Golf Marathon on Tuesday, the annual fundraiser for our general account. I plan to participate only as a cart driver/caddy, but if you would like to give toward this general fundraiser, you may do so at https://emisecure.org/donate.html with a designation of “golf marathon.” Several staff from eMi offices around the world will be golfing, in addition to some volunteers and other eMi contacts, so the day will be a good time of fellowship and enjoying the day outside in Colorado Springs.

Praise God for providing a team for the Ghana project trip this fall! Team members will be finalizing their commitments to the trip before we purchase airfare this week, so please pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in their hearts as they commit and as we prepare for the trip. I will update more about this trip soon.

Preparing for Mid-Year Day of Prayer and Fasting

Blogged under John's Journey by John on Wednesday 21 July 2010 at 11:45 am

I am in the middle of another exciting week at Engineering Ministries International, my third week of full-time work. The following are some highlights from the past few weeks:

  • Listening to testimonies from project trips to Kenya and Rwanda
  • Working with staff and interns on plans and reports for Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and North Africa projects
  • Hours of design review for a vocational school project and a hospital project
  • Volunteering with most of the staff and interns for a local Habitat for Humanity fence-building project at a Colorado Springs home (picture below)
  • Moving the Hoffmans (returning staff) into their new home in Colorado Springs

EMI Habitat Group

Group from eMi who served on local Habitat project

Please join me in praying specifically for our mid-year day of prayer and fasting tomorrow, Thursday, July 22. We will start with a corporate time of worship and prayer, spend several hours in solitude prayer for individual and eMi guidance, pray in small groups for several hours, and close our time with sharing and praise. Ask that God would renew our minds and spirits as we seek Him, and that His will would be accomplished in Christ Jesus as His Spirit works through our lives. May our prayer be filled with thanksgiving and joy for what God is doing personally and corporately through eMi. Praise the Lord for this opportunity to seek His face throughout an entire day! I will be lifting all of you up in prayer throughout the day as God leads, too, so please share anything specific that you would like prayer for. I thank God for the blessing of partnering with you in proclaiming the gospel to the nations through design!

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Adoring my Abba for His Great Love and Faithfulness

Blogged under John's Journey by John on Monday 31 May 2010 at 9:14 pm

As my July start date with Engineering Ministries International (eMi) approaches, my home church (Grace Fellowship of Lakewood) officially sent me out as a missionary during yesterday’s services. Praise God for the opportunity to share my vision and passion with this local body that I grew up being a part of! I so appreciate the support and prayers of these brothers and sisters in Christ.

God continues to amaze me with His faithfulness to provide for my monthly support need! The picture to the right of this past Saturday’s sunrise over Lakewood reminds me of His great faithfulness, which the heavens praise. The sky, the rising of the sun every morning, and the heavenly beings in the sky cannot compare with Jehovah’s faithfulness! There is none like Him; He is more awesome than everything surrounding Him which He created in the beginning! Over the past month, my monthly partnerships have increased by almost 25%, bringing me close to the required 90% to begin at eMi. Praise Jesus! Special thanks to all of you who are generously giving toward the work He has led me to!

It is not too late to partner with me in prayer or financially to reach my full monthly funding goal. Contact me with any questions or to request a commitment card. If you would like to begin contributing online, visit https://emisecure.org/donate.html and include “Agee 2109″ as the designation. You can find other ways to give, including EFT (electronic funds transfer), at http://emiworld.org/donate_staff.php

Thank you again to all of you who are partnering with me in reaching out to the nations in Jesus’ name, designing a world of hope! I am looking forward to the role that God has planned for me at eMi, including civil engineering design and review, helping lead short-term teams, and following the Lord’s leading for an eMi office in the West Africa region.

Rejoicing in HIS great love and faithfulness,
John

I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,
‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’ “
Selah
The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ?
Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
O LORD God Almighty, who is like you?
You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

Greetings from Castle Rock

Blogged under John's Journey by John on Saturday 10 April 2010 at 2:34 pm

Greetings on this Saturday from the Town of Castle Rock, Colorado!

My move last weekend puts me one step closer to my commitment to join staff with Engineering Ministries International by July 1. Praise God for providing this place to live until I move to Colorado Springs in June! James, one of my friends and former coworkers, recently started a job in Lakewood, which resulted in him vacating his apartment in Castle Rock. Since he still had time remaining on his lease, I offered to take his place so that I could be closer to both my company’s office and Colorado Springs. I plan on taking advantage of my short time based in Castle Rock to visit churches in Colorado Springs, as well as to volunteer weekly at EMI’s office.

I am also reaching a point of urgency to raise the necessary financial support that remains. EMI requires that all full-time staff engineers raise support because they donate professional design services to ministries. Therefore, my cost of living and ministry expenses are funded by donations to EMI. In order to begin full-time at EMI by July 1, I need 90% monthly funding confirmed. I appreciate so many of you who are already considering partnership or who have become a part of my support team! If you are still prayerfully considering monthly contributions, I would love to answer any questions you have. Please reply to this message or contact me at 303-900-2433. As support-raising time is becoming critical, please consider monthly financial partnership and pray with me that God would provide the remaining 60% in support. If you would like to begin contributing online, visit https://emisecure.org/donate.html and include “Agee 2109″ as the designation. You can find other ways to give, including EFT (electronic funds transfer), at http://emiworld.org/donate_staff.php

For those of you in the Denver area, I will be sharing about my recent time in Haiti and plans to join staff with EMI on Saturday, April 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Grace Fellowship of Lakewood: 9210 W 2nd Avenue in Lakewood. Invite your friends and plan to join me as I share pictures and stories from Haiti, as well as details about my upcoming transition to full-time ministry with EMI.

Praising the LORD, who provides for the needy and daily bears us up,
John
Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
   lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts;
his name is the LORD;
   exult before him!
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
   is God in his holy habitation.
Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
   you restored your inheritance as it languished;
your flock found a dwelling in it;
   in your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy.
Blessed be the Lord,
   who daily bears us up;
   God is our salvation.

Reflection on Haiti Disaster Response

Blogged under 2010 Haiti by John on Monday 15 March 2010 at 9:05 am

Thank you for your prayer support over the past few weeks! The spiritual battle was very visible in Haiti, and I praise God for sustaining Rod and me, allowing us to share hope with so many there. Please continue to pray that God would break chains and draw people to Himself, filling them with His Spirit so that His glory may be seen.

Although the pain is deeper and the obstacles are higher than I could do anything to overcome, the Rock that is higher than I is the Overcomer. There is hope for Haiti in Him. It feels like Rod and I did so little to actually help the situation: assessing sites for water provision and installing a few systems…Just a few drops in the massive bucket of need. But, delivering on what we said we would do and offering hope among people is so worth our short time there. God can and will grow the impact. I remember the day we were at the Morne Rouge (Red Mountain) shelter site when I gave a hungry boy an energy bar, the only food I had with me. He was quickly surrounded by more kids, and he broke pieces for them. Somehow each of the dozen kids received a piece. Praise God for stretching what He gives us to give away to others!

When we assembled water systems, many in the community gathered to watch. Communities then began to collect clean water once clean water was available. Clean drinking water is a wonderful thing, but the systems can run dry if not properly maintained by the trained operator. People must keep returning to collect new water each day as what they take is diminished. Jesus said that everyone who drinks of water that He gives will never be thirsty again–His water becomes a spring of living water welling up to eternal life (John 4:14). I pray that God uses Rod and my words and actions to point to Himself so that many would be filled with the knowledge of Him and His living water, not just water to quench physical thirst.

Even though most of our conversations and prayers with people were brief, as we asked specific questions and worked with the people to install systems, God is more than able to expand what we said and soften hearts with His Spirit. Praise be to Him for this opportunity to run to the pain and brokenness in Haiti!

May the King of the broken mend, heal, and forgive this nation and fill them with the hope of salvation through Jesus.

Listen to me, my people;
hear me, my nation:
The law will go out from me;
my justice will become a light to the nations.

My righteousness draws near speedily,
my salvation is on the way,
and my arm will bring justice to the nations.
The islands will look to me
and wait in hope for my arm.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail.

Pray for God’s Guidance During Remaining Time in Haiti

Blogged under 2010 Haiti by John on Wednesday 10 March 2010 at 4:59 am

As we begin a new day, I would like to request prayer that God would guide Rod and me to places where there is the most need and places where we can use our skills most to bring God glory. Please join me in praying for direction throughout our remaining 4 days here. God awesomely directed us on Monday, giving us a very encouraging and productive day of assessments. Yesterday was a bit slower paced, but we had a couple good assessments and visits with people at sites, as well as time to catch up with prioritizing water system installations and sites we should visit.

Another team from Water Missions International has been serving with us and following up behind us with installations of systems. Praise God that they completed another water system in the hills at Mission of Hope’s Icondo site for a future orphanage in close proximity to a shelter site without water!

The next EMI water team of two engineers arrive in Haiti tomorrow. Please pray for Tommy and Bob as they prepare to leave, travel, and continue what we have been working on. Ask God for a smooth transition starting tomorrow, and that His direction would be clear as we attempt water solutions. May He receive the glory for working through us so that many might know and praise Him!

The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
All you have made will praise you, O LORD;
your saints will extol you.
They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is faithful to all his promises
and loving toward all he has made.
The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.

Summary Update from Haiti

WithKidsAtMorneRougeThank you all so much for your prayers! It has been an extremely busy week, and I apologize for the lack of updates. It is so encouraging to see the smiles on the faces of the people we are helping, and I praise God for the opportunity to be here ministering to them! The picture to the right is from one of the camps close to our base where the kids always yell out my name whenever they see me. We were working there this week to improve sanitation conditions, water storage, and water taps.

I uploaded more pictures at http://haiti.johnagee.com, and here’s a little of what Rod and I have been doing the past week:

  • Conducted water quality tests and took samples for bacteria testing at most sites we visited that had a source of water
  • Assessed and installed water treatment, storage, and tap stand at Good Samaritan Orphanage in Grand Goave, encouraging the community and training some operators
  • Assessed water needs at additional shelter sites in communities around Grand Goave (Nan Sab, Simon, Jeanty, Morne Rouge, & Jacipen)
  • Watched God expand the only energy bar I had with me that I gave to a group of hungry  kids at Morne Rouge in Grand Goave so that each of them got some
  • Assessed a shelter site in the hills above Grand Goave for water needs (Sant Bonsekou Tezeb)
  • Assessed water needs at sites around Leogane, including a Catholic hospital and a community shelter area (AJDP)
  • Assessed water needs and visited with communities around Petit Goave, explaining some of the water testing I was doing in Spanish

Praise God for all of the work that He has enabled Rod and I to accomplish this week! I am so thankful for a day to rest and worship the Creator today. Please pray that we remain rooted in Him, abiding in Him so that the Holy Spirit continues to carry us and speak through us to those we are working with and for.

May God pour out His cleansing water and His Spirit that changes hearts here in Haiti!

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Water System at Mission of Hope is Functional & Pictures from Haiti

Blogged under 2010 Haiti by John on Monday 1 March 2010 at 8:32 pm
Good evening!
Today started with more shaking as another aftershock rumbled through this region. I do not have much time to detail today’s activities, but Rod and I had another productive day: assessing potential water site up in the hills near Grand Goave and finishing setup for the water treatment system we started on Friday at Mission of Hope. The ministry and community there was very supportive through the setup process, and they were quite appreciative of the clean water, water storage bladder, and tap stands. Harvey, a chaplain with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, joined Rod and I this afternoon as we started the Mission of Hope water system. We prayed for and encouraged volunteers and staff with the ministry in starting the first day of class today, as well as their efforts in food distribution, medical clinics, and orphanage care. I praise God for this opportunity to be involved with delivering good water to the kids and community around this ministry–May He receive all of the glory and praise!
I have started posting pictures at http://haiti.johnagee.com, so be sure to check there for updated images from this trip.
Thanks for your continued prayer. Please continue to ask God that He would provide energy and endurance through these long days–I cannot do this in my strength.

John

A quick update from Chile: Praise God that Keefe and Paola Daly and their kids are all fine! Paola was in Santiago when the quake hit and will not be able to travel home until roads are reopened. Keefe and their kids have food at home, the house and neighborhood is fine, and they even have pool water from a neighbor to wash and flush toilets with. Pray that they have access to drinking water as it is distributed around their area, and thank you for lifting them and the people of Chile up in prayer!

Bonsoir!
Rod, John, and I arrived here in Grand Goave after a short helicopter ride yesterday afternoon. We spent the remainder of yesterday assessing construction of latrine installations near our camp and working on a site plan for the potential shelter near the Samaritan’s Purse Port-au-Prince base. The Grand Goave base is quite a bit smaller and has more of a family atmosphere, so I am getting to know the people I will be living with and interacting with over the next 2 weeks.
Praise God for a great day today! Rod and I worked most of the day preparing and installing a water filtration and purification system for a ministry and school called Ministry of Hope. We will finish the installation on Monday after resting and worshiping tomorrow. I enjoyed spending some time with the people who came to help us level the ground for the system, build a temporary platform for a water storage bladder, and assemble the pieces of the system. I was amazed at their willingness and follow-through in helping us with the setup! God gave us the ability to communicate instructions fairly well, and I attempted to speak a little French. Pray that God would continue to increase my desire and ability to learn and to have more confidence in using it to humbly learn more from people while I am here in Haiti. May God be glorified through my words, actions, and attitudes as He gives the strength to serve!
Please pray for Keefe and Paola Daly and their family and friends in Concepcion, Chile. I regularly support and pray for Keefe and Paola, who are involved with campus ministry in Chile. Please ask God to use the earthquake in their area to show His power and draw people to Himself.
The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
The LORD is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!
The King in his might loves justice.
You have established equity;
you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob.
Exalt the LORD our God;
worship at his footstool!
Holy is he!
